A sylvan glade, young with old contest at cricket.
But, there is a pigeon damaged mirror,a mysterious flypast
and cracked trophy. Is Rome about to fall?
Sorry about the delay, what a terrible post. I’ll put a bit more content in shall I?
The G’Zunda match was a complete success, after the recent spate of matches being abandoned for alleged rain I think some members of the squad were determined that we’d play regardless of the weather. So with black rolling clouds the match began. The first cock-up was someone telling me that it started at 14:30, so i was quite bemused to receive a phone call at 14:05 whilst driving to the match to be informed that i was the opening batsman 5 minutes ago! I think it was a ruse to keep me from warming up properly..
The match itself couldn’t have been closer. Our resident Brazillian ‘Tanner’ was pipped to the post by ‘The Major’ by just one run. The final score being 41 and 42 respectively.
There were several amusing moments, who would expect less from the Gattling Fenns. We had the fly past of the Red Arrows, (how Peter managed to arrange that i’ll never know!), or the sheer classic Reverse Sweep from Jack into the waiting hands of Debs. However i think the crowning moment was Richard, who on accepting the trophy at the end promptly dropped it breaking the handle off!
Some photos for you…

I very much enjoyed the fly past of the ‘Red Arrows’ but alas NOT the pigeon!
Dear Bill As an ex RAF fitter I am glad you enjoyed the show. When we meet next week I will tell you what happened when the Black Arrows thundered over a hanger whilst I was working on a Hawker Hunter ! Cheers Pete
